Ecology Auto Parts Inc. is seeking experienced port drivers to join our team in Wilmington, CA . The port driver will be responsible for transporting containers to and from the port, ensuring safe and efficient delivery. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Class A driver's license, TWIC card, and a clean driving record. They must also demonstrate the ability to lift heavy objects and work effectively in various weather conditions while adhering to all safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Transport materials to designated locations, prioritizing safety and compliance with traffic laws.
- Complete paperwork accurately, including daily trip reports, vehicle condition reports, and customer work order tickets.
- Operate vehicles in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and document checks using standard DVIR.
- Immediately report any unsafe situations or service-related issues to the Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Attend and participate in scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager to enhance route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notify the Operations Manager and Safety Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Report service interruptions, such as blocked containers or potential safety hazards, to Dispatch or Operations Manager.
- Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Operations Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills:
- Valid Class A driver's license.
- Ability to haul 40’ to 53’ trailers.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding maps/GPS.
- Capability to meet the physical demands of the job.
- Experience driving trucks with manual and automatic transmissions.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Previous CDL truck driving experience preferred.
- Hazmat endorsement (or willingness to obtain).
- Minimum of 2 years' experience driving a commercial vehicle.
- 21 years of age or older.
- Clean MVR with no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Experience driving a port dray truck.
- Experience with containerized cargo.
- Forklift certification.
- TWIC card.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Regularly required to sit, use hands, reach, and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand and walk.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Some travel required.
